Video experience

You know when they say there is nothing more important than experience? That’s so true. Trying to shoot video with three very inexperienced people is a lot of fun and I think in the end our bloopers folder is going to be a lot bigger than the actual footage that is going to be used. That’s not a big deal, considering the video is going to be 30-60 seconds and we shot for several hours. Well, preparation, white-balance and similar practical elements of the shoot were consuming more time than the actual filming, because I went for a very fast cutting style. Luckily Trond with his keen eye and Kenneth with his endless pragmatic mindset were there to accompany me, watch me fail and gather some footage.

The other video shoots were not going that smoothly, but delivered good footage in the end and they also were a lot of fun.
The most advanced light setup had Kenneth, with a silhouette flashing lamp, a dark room that first gets lit up when the second actor enters the room. For the lamps used a bunch of thanks to Ragno/Mette from MeRox Studio.

To sum up the shoots I was involved in:
- jumped into one that lasted half the night with very experimental lightning and from these hours only a time-lapse of by passing cars was used.
- played the evil nature polluting guy, wearing my top hat + voice over in Adinas video
- handled lightning and camera angles at Kenneths primary shoot
- played the shizophrenic guy in Tronds video
- played a freezing guy and a guy that gets stroked and scratched in Tanitas video

Thanks to my girlfriend without whom this project would not have risen at all, also thanks to everybody who supported me, gave me input and tought me about the used software, without this had never been possible.

Finally yesterday the NoMA film festival was hosted and I want to thank everybody who made it possible, helped out, made print-material and helped others to finish their videos. It was a blast.

So after all the talking, here my video is:

Tina Dico live in Kolding 2010

[en]Yesterday evening the time had come to trade my ticket for over 2 hours of great music. It was a little amusing, that I obviously decreased the average age, but the mood of the audience wasn’t worse because of that. First Tina introduced Helgi Jonsson, an icelandic artist who she likes to perform with a lot.

Tina, by last name actually Dickow and Helgi were in good touch with the audience, throwing in small anecdotes and introductions in between the songs.

Especially I enjoyed the following songs, which are among my favourite:

[/en]

[da]I går var tiden så kommet. Jeg kunne bytte mit billet til over to timers spændende musik.

Tina Dickow – Friend in A Bar

I met a friend in a bar last night
A girl from a far away past
We counted and worked out that it’d been more than seven years
Since we saw each other last

She looked so much older, I have to say
She used to dress so lively and smart
Now her colours they were faded and her hair was a mess
Her expression was tired and hard

Tina Dickow – Nobody’s Man

Nobody feels the weight of your mission
Nobody can set you free
Nobody knows the way to your fortune
Nobody and least of all…
Me

Tina Dickow – Glow

All these years feeling small and misplaced
The only lonely man on Noah’s Arc
All these years dealing with radio active waste
Has made you glow in the dark
Don’t you know you glow in the dark

[en]Last sunday (7th of November) the photoevent of MeRox Studio (as of I from today also can announce myself a member), happened. Pictures will be online as soon as retouched and approved. Saturday night Halefa visited, helped and shot a lot. Apart from that big event I work on several projects, among them a group project where we are supposed to do a website for a real customer for no money. Further the next posts will be covering nice wordpress plugins, a lot of photos and of course my groups work. Last, but not least, a young deviant interviewed me about my work so far lately: video link.[/en]

Lørdag kom Halefa over, hjalp, snakkede og fotograferede.

Aros, I love you, Xenoglossy

Today my school offered me a trip to the Aros center in Århus. The exhibitions we saw were I love you and Xenoglossy by Julie Nord. I love you was compiled of works by many different artists. Exceptional pieces for me were the melded tea cups by Mona Hatoum, representing a couple that loes their individuality. A very strong photography was taken by Nina Berman, showing a pretty, but serious looking bride and a soldier, as the broom, with a face so heavily deformed by a bomb attack, that his expression wasn’t to interpret. Also worth mentioning is a slow motion short film by Jesper Just about choosing sexuality. The film dragged in some very stylistic elements from fairytales. Nobuyoshi Araki was part of the exhibition with photographs  of young, bondage japanese women.

Luckily the 9 spaces in the basement still existed, which I enjoyed a lot last time.

The part I enjoyed the sot was Xenoglossy, which describes a trance where the one in it speaks in a language, that he or she didn’t know before. The paintings and drawings mostly show young girls in different settings. The raw phantasies are executed extremely well and draw in some repetitive symbols like skulls, combat helicopters or other dark and cruel objects. The ideas seem very unfiltered and the images created are very powerful, creating multiple contrast between good and evil in every piece.

I couldn’t walk by the book about the exhibition without buying it. It gives good insight in Nords work and I really enjoy it.
